Kate O'Hara has a wealth of marketing and communications experience which started with Marketforce in Perth in the late 1980’s. She is an astute businesswoman and networker and been a mentor to many in Perth business circles. Before joining Hawaiian, Kate lived and worked in Singapore for 5 years, returning to Perth to advertising, PR, direct marketing and management roles at The Shorter Group and then The Capital Group. After creating communications consultancy business, Intersect Communications which continues to trade today, Kate stepped into the Hawaiian senior management team and managed the communication channels of Hawaiian. Today Kate consults from Melbourne to groups based in both Perth and Melbourne.
In her spare time, Kate is the Chair of The 500 Club, sits on the WA Cricket Foundation Board and WA Olympics Fundraising Committee, and has been Deputy Chair of the Black Swan State Theatre Company Board and Acting Chair of Perth Fashion Concepts Inc. Previous board NED roles include Celebrate WA and Ready to Work. Kate has for the last 3 years also been a member of the Forrest Foundation Scholarship selection committee.
More recently Kate’s focussed on leading and transforming two start-ups in digital communications – The Influencer Agency and Daisy. A specialist social media marketing business and the other an Search Engine Optimisation business based on a world first SaaS research capability.
Kate brings decades of branding and communications, philanthropy and sponsorship strategy, community development and place making experience to organisations she works with. Being from an agency background, key industries that Kate has deep exposure to includes digital strategy, communications planning, community creation and place making across a broad range of sectors including property development and management (residential, retail, commercial, hospitality); the resource sector, banking and education.
